Sandra Champion Jones - MSEL

For over three decades, Sandra Champion Jones exemplified excellence in public service modeling dutiful servant leadership in the federal government at the Department of Treasury.  Sandra is well-known for her astute ability to get the work done and care for the people.  Sandra holds a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from Champlain College (2020), and a Bachelor of Public Administration Public Service from Park University (2017).  She is a certified John Maxwell Leadership Professional and certified Myers-Briggs Administrator. In October 2022, Sandra founded Pinnacle Leadership Solutions, LLC (PLS), a certified Small Business Administration Woman Owned Small Business (SBA WOSB).

Sandra’s assiduous approach, ability to connect and deliver results are among her authentic leadership attributes, and she is remembered as, “one of the most influential senior leaders” at the Kansas City Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Campus.  In April 2022, celebrating 30 years of exceptional civil service, Sandra was recognized by her team with a certified flag flown over the United States Capitol presented by Missouri Congressman, the Honorable Emanuel Cleaver.

NTEU Chapter 66 recognized Sandra for her committed service to thousands of federal employees, noting her contributions and lasting impact as she led negotiations for the first Kansas City IRS local campus consolidation agreement which became the precedent for future national negotiations to consolidate other IRS offices.  Sandra served on the IRS – NTEU 2006 National Labor Agreement Bargaining Team and was involved on many other national level negotiation teams.  The Chapter 66 President remarked, “it says a lot about a person that you have never directly worked for but use as a role model on how you want to lead”.

Sandra was the first African American analyst, lead analyst and senior program manager permanently selected to serve in the one-of-a-kind cross-functional office of the Site Coordinator overseeing more than 56 programs.  She led a major climate assessment and forward-thinking culture transformation initiative resulting in the development and implementation of an extensive campus-wide plan for positive organizational development affecting over 6000 employees.  Sandra led a large revenue administration and tax processing operation where she oversaw subordinate leaders and more than 700 employees in generating millions of dollars for the U.S. Treasury and inputting tax reporting documents for millions of U.S. taxpayers.

Remembered as “one of the most influential senior leaders”, Sandra was selected to the prestigious Office of Personnel Management (OPM) President’s Management Council Interagency Rotation Program in the first virtual cohort of 2021. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chose Sandra to lead a $1.5 million dollar project to bring ten air traffic control centers into compliance with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Sandra consistently displayed her commitment to empowering and engaging everyone around her.  “From helping to raise millions of dollars volunteering with the Combined Federal Campaign - to protecting thousands of federal employees with the COOP Working Group - and resolving many conflicts through the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediation Program, you have made a difference in so many lives”, remarked the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board Director.

Displaying her entrepreneurial resolve, innovation and creativity, Sandra founded PLS with a vision of inspiring principled principals. Believing in values-based pinnacle-level leadership and a responsibility to serve others, Sandra determined to continue her own growth and to find success while focusing on purpose. Sandra’s mission is to bridge gaps and add value by connecting people, from C-suite executives to front-line employees, through personal and professional development and community engagement and empowerment.

Mission First. People Always.  At PLS, Sandra teaches compassionate leadership that understands the perspectives of labor and management. Her strong interpersonal skills and empathy for the frequent and complex challenges associated with public service, program management, problem solving, and demonstrated people leadership abilities are unique talents.

PLS offers government, non-profit and for-profit organizations people-focused solutions. Through workshops, training, and team building programs to one-on-one coaching, mastermind groups, behavioral assessments, and other general executive and administrative support, Sandra utilizes her experience and professional tools to strengthen leadership and workforce connection and engage community in a manner that transforms mindsets and sustains efficiencies and effectiveness!
